On the 13th of May we had our final Faith Friends meeting with 2nd class. They had their communion on the previous Saturday so it so so good to catch up with them and see how it went.
We finally brought over our tree that we had made with them. We have them each a cut out of a hand and they had to put their name on it and they could design it any way that they wanted. It was completely up to them. We also designed our own hands and we then gathered both our and there's and made the hands as the leaves and we also coloured some hands brown and made them the trunk. The tree actually looked so nice and colourful and it really lit up the classroom when Ms Rodgers stuck it up.
We went around to all the kids and talked about their communion with them and we also shared stories of our communion with them. The whole class also very kindly gave us a handmade card and signed their names on the bottom and also signed our names (they had some trouble spelling mine but it's the thought that counts) .
It was such a nice way to wrap up the faith friends programme for our Pope John Paul Awards and we will definitely continue to go over in. Our spare time to pop in and say hello.
A huge thank you to Ms Buckley for helping us throughout the process and another huge thank you to Ms Rodgers for allowing us to come over when it suited us and adjusting her timetable for us!
